Abstract

LIMA, Julia Coutinho Costa. From internality to externality: the subjectivity location and its historical changes. Psicol. cienc. prof. [online]. 2008, vol.28, n.3, pp. 602-621. ISSN 1414-9893.

This study has main objective the strategies of the subjectivity location, taking as the start point a perspective on social and historical building. To argue about the subjectivity location implicates its many historical changes and also to search for the roots of the building notion of inner nature and, at the same time, to make evident the recent dislocations of subjective experiences through what could be called a more externalized pole. Beginning with the analyses of the state of the art from those authors which have studied the appearance of internalized subjectivity and intimacy, as well as those who have been focusing on the contemporary transformations in subjectivity, the paper lights up the ideas of interiority and exteriority, considering them as a historical-social construction. Also we debate some matrices that justify the importance that the internality had and still has in the construction of modern identities: notions of internality were discussed as source of the individual true identity, as the morality source, as a component of freedom, besides the notion of internality while local of enchantment and motivation to life. The analyses stood out the recent movement that is modifying that soil, being evidenced the elements that constitute the passage of a internalized identity references for other more externalized, less intimate.

Keywords : Subjectivity; Culture; Interiority; Exteriority.
