Abstract

MENDES, Elzilaine Domingues  and  PROCHNO, Caio César S. C.. Body and new forms of subjectivity. Psyche (Sao Paulo) [online]. 2004, vol.8, n.14, pp. 147-156. ISSN 1415-1138.

The aim of this paper is to verify how the socioeconomic and ideological changes, which occurred lately in our society, interfere with the constitution of the human subjectivity. The importance given to the world of images, the individualism, combined with the excessive volume of the information, substitute the change of experiences, causing the progressive impoverishment of the interior life. This brings to the emergence of new social relations and pathological symptoms. The consequence of these facts is that people do not know how to express their feelings, attributing all their evils to causes originated in the body. Thus, the impossibility of speech constitutes a great challenge for the contemporary psychoanalysis.

Keywords : Body; Narrative; Subjectivity; Psychopathology; Contemporary.
