Abstract

ARAUJO, Teo Weingrill. Appropriations of the psychoanalytic theory in the firsts D. W. Winnicott’s texts. Psychê [online]. 2005, vol.9, n.15, pp. 49-64. ISSN 1415-1138.

In the present article, we discuss the way D. W. Winnicott appropriated the contributions of the psychoanalysis in his texts written until 1935: before his joining the British Institute for Psycho-Analysis. To discuss this, we focused on the conception of the psychoanalysis “progress” that Winnicott (1931b) has presented in one of his article from that time. Besides, we have considered the hybrid character of the author’s thought: if, on one hand, Winnicott’s medical practice is nourished by the psychoanalytic theory and, more specifically, by Klein’s and Freud’s contributions, on the other hand, the encounter between psychoanalysis and paediatrics allows the author to start implanting the germs of what will become his originals contributions.

Keywords : Psychoanalysis; Psychosomatic disorders; D. W. Winnicott; Sigmund Freud; Melanie Klein.
