This article aims to analyze the importance of listening in the history of Psychoanalysis and in the analytical process. In order to do that, a review of Freudian approaches is done, from the beginning of Psychoanalysis up to the important technical modifications intended with the concept of repetition. The contribution of contemporary authors that circumscribes the analytical field as a unique space of intersubjectivity is also considered.
