Abstract

SAFRA, Gilberto. Placement: Clinical Model for the Therapeutic Accompaniment. Psyche (Sao Paulo) [online]. 2006, vol.10, n.18, pp. 13-20. ISSN 1415-1138.

This paper presents the concept of placement as a model for the conceptualization of the therapeutic accompaniment. The concept of placement was formulated by Winnicott, as a modality of clinical work. This is a perspective of clinical work not very well known among us. It is a modality of intervention where the notion of place is very important, because it is necessary for human beings to find a place offered by another human being so the process of constitution of the self could begin. The therapeutic accompanier provides the patient a place in the world, from where he can feel himself belonging to the human community and from where he could destine himself towards a possible existential horizon.

Keywords : Therapeutic accompaniment; Placement; Winnicott; Place; Ethics.
