Abstract

METZGER, Clarissa. Contours and fragmentation of the self in psychosis: reflection based on the therapeutic accompaniment of an adolescent. Psyche (Sao Paulo) [online]. 2006, vol.10, n.18, pp. 41-52. ISSN 1415-1138.

This paper reflects on the roles of pain and of ego as a surface entity in the constitution of the self, based on elements of a clinical case of a psychotic adolescent undergoing therapeutic accompaniment. As such, it relies not only on the Freudian concepts of the constitution of the self, but also on the notion of the skin-ego, conceived by Didier Anzieu. Finally, it addresses some issues relating to the constitution and unification of the self and to the possible elements of “narcissistic dependence” that come to the surface upon entering adolescence.

Keywords : Therapeutic accompaniment; Psychoanalysis; Pain; Constitution of the self; Psychosis; Adolescence; Contours; Fragmentation of the self.
