Abstract

CATTAPAN, Pedro. Art and analysis: ways of opening to otherness in contemporary societies. Psyche (Sao Paulo) [online]. 2006, vol.10, n.19, pp. 65-80. ISSN 1415-1138.

The aim of this article is approaching the activities of art and psychoanalysis as ways by which contemporary subjectivities stay apart from the common ideals in which the phallus-narcissist closure impedes the encounter with otherness. This encounter is necessary because by facing the radical other, the new, the subject is forced to experience creativeness, in opposition to the unfruitful and pathologic phallus-narcissist closure experience exalted by the most diverse contemporary discourses, resisted in psychoanalysis and art.

Keywords : Art; Psychoanalysis; Contemporaneity; Otherness; Creation.
