Abstract

FUKS, Betty Bernardo. Contemporariness and the transmission of psychoanalysis. Psyche (Sao Paulo) [online]. 2007, vol.11, n.20, pp. 141-150. ISSN 1415-1138.

The aim of this article is to identify the effects on contemporariness of the rupture on the civilization process which took place during the Second World War. The author tries to figure out how the experience of the extermination camps, a trauma impossible to represent, comes to being, is reproduced and repeated in the culture, generating manifestations that affect the clinic and can come to modify the listening of the analyst. Tracking some figures of the negation of castration and current violence, the author carries through a reflection on these questions, in close relation with the subject of the transmission of psychoanalysis.

Keywords : Trauma; Violence; Modernity; Contemporariness; Transmission.
