Abstract

VERZTMAN, Julio et al. Narcissistic pathologies and auto-immune diseases: the experience of temporality. Psyche (Sao Paulo) [online]. 2007, vol.11, n.21, pp. 63-84. ISSN 1415-1138.

We aim at demonstrating the results of a clinical research in psychoanalysis that focuses, particularly, on the patients’ experience of time. A brief summary of the notion of time in some of Winnicott’s writings is presented to further describe and analyze our material. We find in Winnicott’s notion going on being an extremely valuable tool since it is a keystone of self construction. Subjects in our research sample indicate that the going on being may not present pre-reflexive characteristics found in most individuals, demanding an investigation of the psychical origins of the sensation of passing of time. Our results are described from five axes: chronology, self narrative in time, sensation of movement in time, experience of past and dimension of future.

Keywords : Temporality; Psychoanalysis; Going on being; Subjective ness; Narrative.
