The main subject of this paper is alterity and its value in self’s constitution specifically that encountered in the theoretical constructions of Michael Balint’s work. The new angle of interpretations that can be drawn from the works of Balint is not limited to openness to the other by primarily love but includes reciprocity, tenderness, the experiences of tranquility and well being.
