Abstract

SILVA, Aline Miranda da. The devastation and the feminine. Psyche (Sao Paulo) [online]. 2008, vol.12, n.22, pp. 27-34. ISSN 1415-1138.

These terms devastation and dazzling are translated for ravage and ravishment, terms used by Lacan, and mean to destroy, to ruin and to be fascinated. Since Freud the concept of femininity is the object of theoretical and clinical investigation. He proposes that there is a previous stage in the development of the women with a singular relationship between the mother and the daughter. The devastation according to Lacan is related to the enigma of mother’s feminine joy, called supplementary joy, a joy to which only women have access. This defines the connection between the femininity and the devastation which occurs in the relationship between the mother and the daughter and in lover’s partnership. The experience of devastation involves aspects of the subject psychological structure and his relation with the body.

Keywords : Devastation; Dazzling; Feminine joy; Relationship mother-daughter; Loving partnership.
