Abstract

SALES, Léa Silveira. The opening of structure: the limit of the application of saussurian linguistics to psychoanalysis. Psyche (Sao Paulo) [online]. 2008, vol.12, n.22, pp. 97-112. ISSN 1415-1138.

We will analyze some aspects of the relation between Saussurian linguistics and Lacanian psychoanalysis in an effort to understand the convergence, in the sentence “the unconscious is structured as a language”, elements of approach - that establish, for Lacan, an equation and an identification between laws of language and laws of the unconscious - as well as the necessity to limit the notion of structure, developed after Saussure, in so far as it meets peculiar obstacles, proper to psychoanalysis, that demand its removal from some guidelines displayed by the Course of general linguistics.

Keywords : Lacanian psychoanalysis; Linguistics; Structure; Unary trait; Negation.
