Abstract

ARBEX, Cláudia. Um olhar psicopedagógico para a relação professor-aluno atravessada por mitos culturais: implicações na prática educacional. Constr. psicopedag. [online]. 2007, vol.15, n.12, pp. 72-87. ISSN 1415-6954.

This paper discusses the relation professor-pupil, with emphasis in the interference of the patriarchal universe in the performance of men and women in the education of children, approaching, over all, the absence of male teachers in the first cycles of education. A case study and a qualitative research have been developed, with the purpose of raising some hypothesis for the scarce presence of men in this profession. The data collected was analyzed in light of the theoretical framework developed by Carlos A. Byington, based on his reflections on the works of C.G. Jung. The analysis of the data indicated an evident polarization between masculine and feminine universes in the individual conscience of participants of this research, possibly as consequence of still very active patriarchal dynamics. The revision of values, by being on the lookout for the taboos and misconceptions associated to the relation between teacher and pupil, seem to be of fundamental importance for the instauration of a dynamics of alterity in the field of education.

Keywords : Male educator; Arquetype of alterity; Carlos Byington; Patriarchal dynamics.
