The work in hand seeks to identify the predominant teaching gender in the Terena indigenous school in the Buriti village, in the municipality of Dois Irmãos do Buriti, State of South Mato Grosso, as well as the teaching style of the teacher, analyzing the relationship between teacher and learner and the significations of learning for both, in search of an ethnic-education. The research presents descriptive characteristics and the outline of the case study and the field work being done during the school year of 2007/2008, using as instruments for the collection of data the questionnaire, the interview and group discussion. The analysis of the data will be carried out by way of the hermeneutic dialectic method, as this study is part of the Work Plan in the Project, “Ethnic-education and its articulation with the style of indigenous learning of the Terena.
