The progress of science point to an increased longevity of people, requiring improve their quality of life, especially in the later stage. Studies have shown that the stages of maturity and old age, even with these declines, they also show other gains, the fruits of experience and maturity. This fact is explained by science as pattern recognition, which occurs through a cognitive reserve. Then, the effects of time can be compensated, when establishing healthy habits and na exceting lifestyle. This article is a review of the evolutionary process of being human, the presentation of results of some research centers on the stages of maturity and old age, and also the possibility of a psychoeducational approach, based on neuropsychology, aiming at preserving cognitive and a useful and productive life until his finitude. This is not an imaginary prospect, or Magic to stop what is inevitable, the aging, but it is real and goes beyond the ideological designs, advancing to the possible. But to achieve this satisfactory condition is necessary to go through many experiences, appropriating them and put the, into practice in their daily lives.
