Abstract

MARTINEZ, Janicce. Difference and identity: the self-other relationship in the classroom. Constr. psicopedag. [online]. 2012, vol.20, n.21, pp. 3-22. ISSN 1415-6954.

This article is based in a series of discourses circulating and intertwining about the difference and the other. The aim is to approach the voice of the high school teacher (secondaryeducation), who is in contact with young people aged from 12 to 17 years. The focus is on the readings (interpretations) that teachers make about the relational process in their classroom with students from "urban tribes", a process in which they are necessarily involved concerning the so-called secondary socialization. From their testimonies, we try to understand what happens in this space of exchanges and construction of meanings, in relation to: 1) the other, as an expression of the difference, and 2) the elements that teach us to sustain or deny the difference according to "what ought to be".

Keywords : The difference; The other; Identity; Self-other relationship in the classroom.
