Abstract

MENEZES, Rafael de Souza et al. Motherhood, work and academic, dealing with the need to leave their children. Constr. psicopedag. [online]. 2012, vol.20, n.21, pp. 23-47. ISSN 1415-6954.

The objective of this research was to identify how university working mothers cope with the need to leave their children during the class, considering the perspective of these women about the psychological, social and academic aspects. It constitutes a field research in social psychology, based on the socio-historical perspective of Lev Vygotsky. Data collection was conducted through 20 semi-structured interviews with university working mothers. We conclude that motherhood, work and academic life is a common dynamic in our reality, but which reveals itself in a perverse way the subjectivity of the modern woman, finding themselves in a dilemma between personal satisfaction and search for better socioeconomic conditions versus the role of caretaker assigned to her.
