ARRUDA, Irene Vicente de  y  CASTANHO, Marisa Irene Siqueira. Education for youth and adult with intellectual disabilities: reflections on remaining in special school. Constr. psicopedag. [online]. 2014, vol.22, n.23, pp. 59-71. ISSN 1415-6954.

In this article we present some elements to the debate about inclusive education. On one hand, the concerns turn to how to guarantee the admission and remaining in the elementary regular schools to students with special educational needs, on the other, the special education of pupils older than 14 years of age still deserves discussion and the establishment of public policies. This article discusses the problems of integration and inclusion of young people and adults with intellectual disabilities, older than 14 years of age, in particular those who keep in the spaces of special schools for long periods. The goal is to encourage a reflection on the educational actions developed in special education and about the possibilities of social inclusion and school education for young people and adults with learning disabilities, from their recognition as subjects of rights. It presents an account of experience in attendance in the art room, through the evolution of a case attended in space of special education for youth and adults with learning disabilities. It discusses about the oppositions between the proposals for inclusion and the permanence of a large number of people with intellectual disabilities in a situation of segregation in special schools.
