Abstract

ROSA, Maria Gizélia de Oliveira Souza  and  DE CASTRO, Rebeca Eugênia Fernandes. The measurement of affection in the classroom. Constr. psicopedag. [online]. 2017, vol.25, n.26, pp. 24-33. ISSN 1415-6954.

Given the importance of human interactions for learning and growth, we propose in this paper to evaluate fundamental aspects of affection in the student-teacher relationship from a psychoanalytic point of view, which help us to think about how learning occurs (or not), based on Freud's assumptions about the individual as a subject composed of drive and desire. The basis for our discussion is the winnicottian figure of the good mother in the role of the good-enough teacher, as well as the pathological mother, that is reflected on a harmful type of relationship with the student. There are aspects of teaching profession that, due to circumstances such as time and working condition, reverberate affectively as love and hatred, which need constantly resignification. However, we understand that resignification depends on the resilience ability of each individual. We also propose to measure the affection based on results of learning rather than on the sentimental expressions in the classroom.
