Abstract

Dyslexia is a specific learning difficulty wich cause problems in reading. Children with dyslexia have difficulty in identifying, recognizing and making the connection between letters and their phonemes. They may suffer some consequences, such as: school dropout, trauma at school, scolionophobia, or even they give their studies up and get involved in social problems. The aim of this paper is to characterize the levels of information of five Portuguese Language teachers about dyslexia, as well as the psychological intervention. The results revealed that this was a sample with experience in elementary school I and II, and that the interviewees' training does not deal with the issue of dyslexia. The study concluded that all the teachers and psychologists didn't have postgraduate degree in the knowledge area of dyslexia. However, the most of them said they have experiences with dyslexic children.
