Motherhood is a unique and subjective event in the life of a woman and her family. What can often cause overload when it is concomitantly linked to mothers who attend some level of education, within this group we will approach university academics, who unfold in the functions of being a mother, professionalization and even individual attributions as unique women. Studies on the subject call attention to their experience, which depending on the emotional, family, social, financial context, among others, can become a daily challenge regarding staying in the gym. Thus, an analysis of the general context that governs the life of university academic mothers is necessary. At the Institute of Health and Biotechnology of the Federal University of Amazonas (ISB/UFAM) there are no studies to date that address this issue, or any method used to collect data on how many academics are pregnant or are already mothers. Gap is timely for research. The general objective of this study is to analyze the sociodemographic profile and the experience of university academic mothers at ISB/UFAM. This is a cross-sectional study, of the descriptive type, with a quantitative and qualitative approach. The data collection instrument was a sociodemographic questionnaire created by the authors and applied to university mothers. The quantitative analysis revealed sociodemographic information about the target audience, which can be useful for a planning and decision-making process for the distribution of services and meeting the social demands of the studied public. The qualitative analysis, based on the Content Analysis proposed by Bardin (2011), demonstrated not only the facilitating aspects and difficulties of permanence at the university, but also the feelings and experiences that signal the need for debate on the subject, aiming at improving the assistance provided to these women.
