Abstract

GALVAO, Joice Kelly de Andrade  and  MISSAWA, Daniela Dadalto Ambrozine. NEUROPSYCHOLOGICAL ASSESSMENT TO CHARACTERIZATION OF COGNITIVE PROFILE IN TURNER SYNDROME. Constr. psicopedag. [online]. 2023, vol.33, n.34, pp. 16-26.  Epub Mar 08, 2024. ISSN 1415-6954.  http://dx.doi.org/10.37388/cp2023/v33n34a03.

Turner syndrome is configured by the total or partial deletion of the second female sex chromosome. Most girls do not have cognitive delay, but the specific difficulties of learning mathematics are frequent. Thus, the present work is characterized as a case study, which aims to outline the cognitive profile of a 13-year-old girl with TS and discuss how the investigation of domains and weaknesses direct the elaboration of intervention programs that aim to work on specific cognitive deficits of ST. The results showed significant deficits in arithmetic performance and in the abilities of operational memory, visual perception and mental flexibility. These skills seem to be directly linked to the learning of mathematics, as they allow the mental manipulation of various information simultaneously, recognize different solutions to the same problem and understand information that become more complex.
