This biography is intended to bring light to the principal accomplishments of the illustrious master, and at the same time tries to show him in his way of living, coherent in coping with his knowledge, and the influence which he exerted in the formation of his pupils. This is also an effort to preserve his work from being forgotten. The history of his work is closely connected with that of the previous Faculty of Philosophy, Sciences and Literature, which was to become the backbone of the USP (University of São Paulo). The data collected, however, were few. Which makes this biography somewhat poor, when compared to the brilliant career of Professor Roldão Lopes de Barros.
