ANDRE, Maria da Consolação. Psychosociology and Blackness: brief reflection on "being black" in Brazil. Bol. - Acad. Paul. Psicol. [online]. 2007, vol.27, n.2, pp. 87-102. ISSN 1415-711X.

This article is the result of a conceptual research developed as part of the author's thesis on subjectivity processes of Afro-Brazilians, focused on a doctor degree in Psychology. Our interest for this study as a whole is to call the attention of professionals and researchers of Psychology about the importance of discussing ideas disseminated in Brazil about black people, and also to debate about the "black awareness" questions. It is understood that this debate could be helpful in the comprehension of the sufferings occurring from discriminatory acts experienced by Afro-Brazilians. Therefore, the objective of this article consists in the examination of the concepts of "black" and "blackness", abstractions derived historically from the slavery system brought by the traffic of Africans to Brazil, as well as ideas that could possibly justify the inferiority of African people and Afro-Brazilians in our country.

Palavras-chave : Black; Subjectivity; Afro-brazilian; Ideology.
