Abstract

This paper introduces synthetical information about the establishment of Psychology in the Estado de São Paulo (São Paulo State) in the period of 1930-1938. Its contents show the pioneerism of the institution of psychological nature installed in the State of São Paulo, perhaps in Brazil. It was created during Lourenço Filho‘s administration (Patron of the chair number 2 of this Academy) and was in charge of Noemy Marques da Silveira (being on account of marriage called Noemy da Silveira Rudolfer), distinguished full Professor who formed generations of Psychologists in Brazil. Her program of activities is considered as an initial source of Psychology in the institutions of our region or, possibly, of our country.
