GODOY, Renata Semensato Pereira de  y  PECANHA, Dóris Lieth Nunes. Relationships between organizational culture and innovation processes: a psychosociological case study in a technology-based company. Bol. - Acad. Paul. Psicol. [online]. 2009, vol.29, n.1, pp. 142-163. ISSN 1415-711X.

This research based on a psychosociologic view analyzes relationships between organizational culture and innovation processes in a technology-based company at a University city in the interior of São Paulo state, Brazil. It aims to identify some aspects of the organizational culture that make innovation process easier or more difficult. Considering the characteristics of the problem, a mixed investigation strategy has been chosen (quantiqualitative design). The considered hypotheses are: innovation processes focus more efforts on visible apparatuses, such as technology, than on intangible aspects, as culture of innovation; and the search for innovation is more visible on internal technology acquisition politics than on people management politics. Investigation tools: questionaries, inventaries and semi-structured interviews with management and workers of the company's development team. Results support the first hypothesis and, partially, the second one. Data suggest that innovation is positively related to the existence of specific organizational culture. However, there is no need of all the aspects described in order to make innovation processes happen; but the existence of some of these aspects as tolerance for ambiguity and error, supportive leaderships, open communication, cohesion and recognition to the efforts favoured the worker's innovation and health.
