This article presents results of studies on the child care clinics created in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo in the 1930s, and led by intellectuals and members representing the Brazilian League of Mental Hygiene: Mirandolino Caldas, Arthur Ramos, Durval Marcondes (former occupant of Chair no.1).
