Abstract

ROSSETTI, Milena de O.  and  ASSUMPCAO-JUNIOR, Francisco Baptista. Child Sexuality Behavior Inventory: Brazilian Adaptation and validity's evidence's analysis. Bol. - Acad. Paul. Psicol. [online]. 2014, vol.34, n.86, pp. 208-231. ISSN 1415-711X.

This article reports the survey translation and cultural adaptation of the Child Sexuality Behavior Inventory and research validity's evidence of this instrument for the Brazilian reality, bearing in mind the need, by professionals working with children of resources for the evaluation of atypical sexual behavior indicating the risk of being victims of sexual abuse. The purpose was to translate and adapt the CSBI to Portuguese (Brazil), and evaluate validity's evidence of the adapted version. The translation and adaptation of CSBI in four phases, with translation of the original consensus meeting, back-translation and panel of judges. Empirical validation is performed with two groups of children aged 2 to 12 years old. The clinical group has 28 children with a history or suspicion of sexual abuse and the control group of 30 children without this history. For empirical validation, we use a questionnaire survey, a social class scale and CSBI - Brazilian version. Only three items need change in the process of translation and back translation and have to be analyzed to ensure content's validity. The internal consistency analysis with Cronbach's alpha = 0.86. Discriminant analysis of scores shows significant difference in the averages, higher for the clinical group (t = 5.57 (27) and p = 0.000). Analysis of variance of the points is significant for ages {F (3,48) = 2, p <0.05}. DISCUSSION: The internal consistency's coefficient of the Brazilian version is similar to the original version and shows its discriminating capacity as reported by several authors within the original version. It testifies to the content validity of the Brazilian CSBI, which also shows a satisfactory level of reliability, proving also its criterion validity and construct validity.
