This study arises from the concerns of the practical experience of play activities in a play group, as promotion intervention, health prevention and rehabilitation, primary care, developed in an area of social vulnerability in the city of São Paulo. The questions arising from this action orient the objectives of this study, which aims to detect , through play activities , factors that could influence the development of children at social risk and understand how the context in which the participants are inserted, influence and facilitate these development proposals for interventions by professionals in areas of health and education, using as a resource playful activities with children in situations of social risk. For this, we used qualitative methods, participant observation in five children between six and ten years old, and created, for analysis of the results, three categories - the body, meetings and the doing - in order to get discussions that address the multiplicity at the collection performed. The results show the various affectations and interrelationships with play activities, in particular the symbolic play and contexts to which they belong. Play then presents itself as a powerful instrument of care when it comes to the construction of bonds and ressignification of the contexts of the children lives, becoming thus a means of communication and expression in childhood, as well as protective mechanism and promoter of healthy development. Therefore, these perceptions related to play activities strenghten and make relevance for interventions in children in situations of social vulnerability, such as child care technology to the Primary Health Care
