ALVES, Irai Cristina Boccato. The Human Figure Drawing for intellectual assessment of illiterate adults. Bol. - Acad. Paul. Psicol. [online]. 2015, vol.35, n.88, pp. 75-92. ISSN 1415-711X.

The Human Figure Drawing (HFD) is used for intellectual assessment of children, but this purpose is not considered appropriate to adults. The illiterate adults make impoverished drawings when they are compared with literate adults. This study intends to investigate, if a qualitative assessment of general characteristics of the HFD can be used for intellectual assessment of these adults. The HFD of 152 illiterate adults were classified according to production quality and were given concepts based on Metropolitan Readiness Test criteria. The concept A is given for the very good drawings, following until concept E for the very poor. The majority of illiterates were classified as C (average), followed by D (below average). Correlations obtained are significant and moderate between these classifications and the scores of Test R-1, suggesting that the drawing can be used to assess adult intelligence of this group of adults

Palabras clave : Human Figure Drawing; illiteracy; R-1 Test.
