Currently it is common throughout the world to find in the media a lot of headlines about various types of violence in the school, such as threats by students to teachers, the depredations heritage school, insults and aggressions among students, including serious consequences. Within this scenario, studies were initiated on a specific type of violence that is intended to exclude the other, conceptualized as bullying. Under creating the influence of the rapid development of communication technologies and their implementation in the social environment, this kind of violence began to extend outside of the school environment, through social networks and digital communication devices, a new kind of violence, the Cyberbullying. The phenomenon is conceptualized as bullying through the use of information and information technologies, such as email, phone, appliances and instant messaging programs and personal sites, however, even though there is a closeness and a coexistence of the two phenomena, there are some aspects that can be found that differentiate bullying from cyberbullying, especially with regard to its beginning and consequences that both have. This paper aims to conduct a literature review in which we present the main differences between bullying and cyberbullying in order to explain theoretically this new type of violence, and may thus contribute to a better scientific understanding of this phenomenon and instigate future projects and research on this topic
