This study investigates the stress symptoms in 100 schoolchildren, age 1519 years old, both genders, 50 male (G1) and 50 females (G2), attending the 1st and 3rd series the secondary and technical education (EMT). After the ethical procedures of the study, we applied the Inventory of Stress Symptoms for Adults, to identify the symptoms of stress of somatic and psychological types, and the phases of alarm, resistance, near exhaustion and exhaustion. The application and interpretation of data comply with the standards of research instruments and were submitted to statistical analysis through test nonparametric Kruskal-Wallis test for independent groups. In terms of age distribution, detected higher incidence of stress at the age of 15 years attending the 1st grade of EMT. The results indicate a significant correlation between gender and level of anxiety (p <0.01). The G1 has high signs of stress in the resistance stage with 64% of the 1st series and 36% in Grade 3; stress, 36% of the 1st series 56% of 3rd grade. In G2, in both series, 88% show signs of stress, with 76% in the resistance phase and 12% in exhaustion. The predominant symptoms are irritability, emotional sensitivity and anxiety, unstable and vulnerable to somatization. The study concludes that stress affects both the female and the male, the initial and final series of the East and Technical Education, predominantly in the initial series. There is a higher incidence of high levels of stress in the resistance stage, the female population, in both series, indicative of greater responsiveness to internal and external stressors
