Resumen

The present study aims to review the literature on the orphans of HIV/AIDS and adoption of the time period from 1994 to 2013, including national and international articles. The periodicals database of CAPES was searched with the following keywords: Orphans, AIDS, HIV, and refined the search with: vulnerable children, caregivers, adoption, the well-being of children, orphan children, orphans, protection of children, parents, child health, family, child care, child out of family care, extended family, having located in total 05 articles. In the SCIELO database and LILACS were used the following key words: Orphans, AIDS, HIV, adoption were located 12 articles and the Virtual Health Library (VHL) with the words: Orphans, AIDS, HIV, and adoption located 68 articles. The data found was subdivided into the following categories: a) orphans - causes and consequences, b) institutionalization and abandonment, c) adoption. It is observed that there is little literature about the topic adoption HIV positive national and international. These articles only observe the issues related to stigma, discrimination, education, psychological aspects and tract with respect to health and cultural contexts. However, there is much to be studied on this subject with gaps in more diverse nuances of the adoptive process
