Abstract

This study analyzes the meaning of Facebook and how it influences the Adults' relations network. A qualitative study was conducted with 10 Adult Facebook users (5 men and 5 women), aged between 41 and 59 Years. It was conducted through semi-structured interviews and the results submitted to content analysis. Data analysis was based on three categories: features of the use, Facebook meaning, and influences on social relationships. In conclusion, for the participants, Facebook means to have news from people of your relational network in real life, enabling contact, and is also a form of freedom of expression, entertainment and memory recall. It was found through the narrative a concern about the superficiality of relations, the use of time and privacy. From the perspective of the participants, Facebook has a positive impact on relationships
