Resumo

This qualitative study aims to grasp the meanings attributed to the changes resulting from the aging process of servants of a public institution of higher education in the city of Curitiba-PR. A total of 10 women, aged between 50 and 68 years participated, and the sample was established by convenience. The same was selected based on the criterias: belonging to the career of teaching and technical in education, secondary and higher education levels and in labor activity. Data were collected by semi-structured interviews, and the research method was subsidized by social constructionism. The analysis of produced and shared discourses and repertoires were organized into three categories: organic transformations, aesthetics stigma and denial and positive evaluation. It was found, through narratives of the participants, that they are identified with the socially constructed discourse about aging while related to loss and decline. In contrast, the fact of being working made them see the possibility of a more independent and active ageing, with new behaviors and more identified lifestyle with youth. From the data obtained, the importance of creating spaces where experiences can be shared is considered
