BARBOSA, Vanir Maria Carneiro; ANTUNES, Maria Cristina  and  PADILHA, Maria da Graça Saldanha. Family reintegration of children victims of intrafamily violence in institutional care protection action: sexual abuse in focus. Bol. - Acad. Paul. Psicol. [online]. 2016, vol.36, n.91, pp. 286-309. ISSN 1415-711X.

The purpose of this article is to establish a theoretical discussion based on literature about the difficulties and challenges that permeate the effectiveness of family reintegration of children victims of intrafamily violence, especially sexual abuse, forwarded to the host institution for protection actions. We discuss family dynamics surrounding the silence of the victim, involving the secret's syndrome and its consequences; economic dependence relationship of the family with the aggressor, the slow pace of justice in crime trial hindering the punishment of the offender which favors the continuation of abuses; the inadequacy and inefficiency of public policies to cover the demand for victim services and family in different aspects. It highlights the importance of ongoing training of professionals working in this area to instrumentalize them in the development of planned actions that support, with greater safety, feasibility and risks of family reintegration. Prioritizes the professional support to victims and their families with systematic monitoring in order to prevent the violation of reinserted children and teenager's rights, their revictimization and institutional fostering factors that, besides reconstructing new forms of violence, can culminate with the definitive removal of the victim from living with his family
