Abstract

This is a documentary study from the screening of medical records and records of children placed in residential care service in a Brazilian medium city. The screening of medical records showed the prevalence of institutional care due of sexual violence, identified reports of psychological counseling for children and the presence of the Human Figure Drawing test in cases of children who experienced episodes of sexual violence. The aim of the study is to present an overview of the data obtained from medical records, related to the context of sexual violence and conduct analysis of DFH from the description of the indicators of emotional commitment according to Koppitz. The study sample was composed from the screening records, ten female children aged between 7-11 years who were admitted because of sexual violence. The results showed that eight female children were sexually assaulted during at least a year before it was revealed to someone and that all were abused and suffered psychological threats. The analysis of DFH reveals that all the children had two or more indicators of emotional commitment, suggesting aggressiveness, extreme insecurity; anxiety, anguish and guilt; difficulty in social adjustment; denial and difficulty of contact with reality in order to escape into fantasy
