Abstract

Generally the companies studied have their origins linked to family groups. In them, family, property and business systems are overlapping. This research seeks to understand the relationship between the dynamics of the leadership in a ruling family and certain dimensions of organizational culture in the family business. The method was the case study based on systemic and psychodynamic theory. Instruments: Company characterization questionnaire; Structured Organizational Interview (SOI); Organizational Culture Scale (OCS) and Field diary. Results indicate a tendency to autocratic leadership sometimes situational, but generally exercised improperly in a systemic point of view. In relation with this kind of leadership, an organizational culture with unflexible dynamic, centralized and bureaucratic following the founder´s practices throughout the history of the organization, is identified
