MAIA, Maria de Fatima de Matos et al. Scale of leisure habits: proof of factor structure and differences in the function of gender, age and educational level of young people from Montes Claros - MG. Bol. - Acad. Paul. Psicol. [online]. 2017, vol.37, n.93, pp. 393-407. ISSN 1415-711X.

A query in the sites of search for a psychological construct that could evaluate the type, frequency and intensity of leisure habits in the psychosocial dynamics of the young indicated a limitation of publications in relation to this subject for young Brazilians. The objective was to verify the consistency and maintenance of the factorial structure of the measure of the Scale of Activities of Leisure Habits applied in students in the north of Minas Gerais. 691 adolescents from the city of Montes Claros participated: 52% men and 48% women, aged 11 and 19 years old (M = 14.64, SD = 1.79, Mo = 15). The instrument was the Scale of Activities of Leisure Habits with three factors: Instructional Leisure, Playful and Hedonic, in addition to a sociodemographic characterization questionnaire. For data analysis, SPSS 21.0 was used. Descriptive statistics (central tendency and dispersion) and MANOVA were computed. A confirmatory factorial analysis was performed using the AMOS 21.0 statistical program. The results evidenced the existence of the hypothetized trifactor model, revealing a positive Phi (φ) association between the factors. MANOVA showed significant results only for the main effect at school level and gender and for interaction effect at school level versus age, all in relation to play habits. We emphasize the factorial guarantee of the intended model, which evaluates the activities of leisure habits, considered as distinct activities, in intensity and frequency, presented by the young people when they have already completed their daily activities. The saturations were within the expected range, proving that there are no problems of the proposed estimation in the scale measurement
