Abstract

FORMIGA, Nilton S et al. Evidence of factor invariance and convergent validity of the organizational support scale: study with Brazilian workers. Bol. - Acad. Paul. Psicol. [online]. 2018, vol.38, n.94, pp. 27-35. ISSN 1415-711X.

The employees of any organization are fundamental pieces for its operation. Therefore, for the company, in order to operate in optimum conditions, such pieces must be functioning under ideal conditions, leading to desired productivity and promoting the worker's psychological maintenance and social well being. Since the 1990s, studies have valued the assessment of organizational support in the organization-employee relationship, setting up instruments capable of evaluating the employee's perception of what the company values the most. This study's main aim was to verify the consistency of the Organizational Support Perception Scale (EPSO) psychometric indicators. The study included 310 men and women, from state and private organizations, over 18 years old; they responded to EPSO and sociodemographic data. The results revealed statistical indicators very related to those found in earlier studies and, moreover, in the convergence analysis, a positive relation of the support with the engagement was observed. The support scale remains consistent even when applied a sample with different workers and can be used in the evaluation or organizational diagnosis, generating contributions in the human resources area, especially when it is intended to intervene in the quality of productivity and occupational health
