Abstract

PECANHA, Doris Lieth  and  BLANQUER-LAGUARTA, lbert. (In)fertility: medical culture and couple's culture. Bol. - Acad. Paul. Psicol. [online]. 2018, vol.38, n.95, pp. 165-178. ISSN 1415-711X.

This essay aims to analyze the problem of reproductive infertility from psychoanalytic psychosomatic notions and in the context of the medical culture and the couple. We put hypotheses on the transmission of life and on the psychic transmission. This is a theoretical and therefore a qualitative study. In it we affirm that the instinctive modus vivendi of species is modified among human beings. We examine the current literature on infertility from the somatic and psychic point of view. We find that it is not only the physical and psychological conditions, but a certain harmony in the transmission that allows life to reproduce. Family secrets can block this transmission. Thus, the psychoanalytic psychosomatics can aid in assisted reproductive care, unlocking unconscious defenses, alleviating the anxiety and stress experienced by those who undergo these techniques, and it can also open paths to other life projects. We conclude that reproductive techniques and psychotherapeutic care on the dynamics of the couple and on the work of transmission must be inseparable in the current care. Finally, the psychoanalytic psychosomatics can favor the access and understanding of the hidden aspects of a personal, couple, family and social culture that may be an obstacle to reproduction.

Keywords : Infertility; assisted reproduction; medical culture; psychoanalytical psychosomatics; transmission.
