FRANCA-FREITAS, Maria Luiza Pontes de; DEL PRETTE, Almir  e  DEL PRETTE, Zilda A. P.. Subjective well-being: a comparative study between gifted children and not gifted children. Bol. - Acad. Paul. Psicol. [online]. 2019, vol.39, n.97, pp. 183-191. ISSN 1415-711X.

There is a clear lack of studies about the socio-emotional characteristics of gifted and talented children, especially about subjective well-being. Therefore, the aim of this study was to compare the subjective well-being level of gifted and talented children with those who were ungifted. 394 children with age range between eight and twelve years participated. From this overall sample, 269 children were signed as gifted and talented children and 125 were identified as ungifted children. Participants completed the following questionnaires: Multidimensional Life Satisfaction Scale for Children (MLSSC), Positive and Negative Affect Scale for Children. From descriptive and inferential analyzes it was possible to verify that the gifted children showed higher levels of subjective well-being than the ungifted children. It can be said that this research contributes with information to better understand the characteristics and real socio-emotional needs of gifted and talented children.
