Abstract

SINNOTT, Elizabeth Nery  and  TAGLIAMENTO, Grazielle. Work and family relations of executives: executive coaching contributions. Bol. - Acad. Paul. Psicol. [online]. 2020, vol.40, n.98, pp. 73-82. ISSN 1415-711X.

This study aimed to analyze the influence of work on family relationships and the contributions of executive coaching to these relationships. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with three executives and analyzed using content analysis technique. Two thematic categories were identified: influence of work in family relationships; and changes in family relationships after the coaching process. It was identified that, among the influences of work in family relationships, the situations of the progressive decrease in the time devoted to the family, the frequent absence in the family, and the transfer of work activities at times when the executive should be with the family are highlighted. After the coaching process, some change was perceived in the behavior with the family, including setting personal goals for change and the expansion of self-consciousness, realizing the aspects present in their career trajectory and the impact on life, with consequent positive results in career and personal life.

Keywords : executive coaching; work; family relationship.
