The objective of this qualitative research, derived from a postdoctoral research, was to investigate the contributions of the structural-phenomenon method to the diagnosis of a person with depression and another one with anxiety, and how events and language occur in individual psychotherapy throughout one year. The results showed that the psychotherapeutic process with both resulted in greater strengthening in intra and interpersonal relationships, increased ability to tolerate frustrations and reach greater independence, limit, bonding and dialogue to deal with the pressures and demands inherent to the relational life they faced. Verbal language showed that the mechanisms of linking and cutting coexist and alternate themselves, approaching the possibility of integration. The splitting mechanism was the main sign of suffering, presenting a sick temporality, in one case for the past and another one for the future - which distanced them from the rediscover (lien), but at the end of the process they were able to benefit from the current and present experience, allowing them to find potential for transformation.
