Abstract

CAVALCANTI, Ana Luísa da Silva Ramalho; BAGAROLLO, Maria Fernanda; LIPP, Marilda E. Novaes  and  CONSTANTINI, Ana Carolina. Lipp's Stress Control Training: An Integrative Literature Review. Bol. - Acad. Paul. Psicol. [online]. 2021, vol.41, n.100, pp. 37-47. ISSN 1415-711X.

Excessive stress can be prejudicial. Lipp's Stress Control Training was developed with a view to preparing individuals to deal with stress in a healthy way. Various studies have been conducted using this model, however, no reviews have been found in the literature addressing its efficacy across different populations. The aim of this paper is to conduct an integrative review of the literature on Lipp's Stress Control Training to ascertain its efficacy. A search of the following databases was conducted: Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO), Latin American and Caribbean Health Sciences Literature (LILACS) and the US National Library of Medicine National Institutes of Health, utilizing two health descriptors, namely "psychological stress" and "cognitive therapy" and the keyword "Stress Control Training". The result was a total of five articles in which it can be seen that Lipp's Stress Control Training has been applied to different populations, albeit with some modifications, and that it was indeed effective in reducing stress. It may be concluded that it is a useful model for treating stress. It is fundamental that clinical psychologists who use this protocol publish their data so that a more profound understanding of the mechanism through which stress is diminished can be obtained.

Keywords : stress; psychological stress; Cognitive Behavioral Therapy; stress management training.
