Abstract

CHAVES, Gislaine; TARDIVO, Leila Salomão de La Plata Cury; ROSA, Helena Rinaldi  and  PINTO JUNIOR, Antônio Augusto. Adolescence and self-harm: a comprehensive and interventive Psychodiagnostic proposal. Bol. - Acad. Paul. Psicol. [online]. 2021, vol.41, n.100, pp. 93-105. ISSN 1415-711X.

The World Health Organization categorizes self-injurious behavior in adolescence as a public health problem. In Brazil, research is still incipient, especially investigations dedicated to the study of psychic dynamics and means of intervention with this population. This study aimed to describe the possible contributions of Comprehensive and Interventional Psychodiagnosis performed with a self-harm pre-adolescent, presenting a psychoanalytic psychodynamic analysis of her personality based on Winnicottian contributions. A single case study was carried out in which the psychodiagnostic process is described in two stages: first application and follow-up. The data obtained evidence that self-injurious behavior by the participant revealed to be in the service of a double function: to prevent the total annihilation of the Self and, concomitantly, to communicate the failures in environmental care. In addition, Psychodiagnosis favored relevant mutant experiences in the case presented, being of great value as a preventive and therapeutic proposal for adolescents in distress.

Keywords : adolescent; self-injurious behavior; adolescent psychology.
