MAIA, Kelvya Silveira  e  ASSUMPCAO JUNIOR, Francisco Baptista. Screening scale for autistic spectrum disorder: a validity study for adolescents and adults. Bol. - Acad. Paul. Psicol. [online]. 2021, vol.41, n.101, pp. 166-174. ISSN 1415-711X.

The objective of this study was to create a screening scale to measure symptoms associated with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), male and aged between 11 and 25 years, since there is a shortage of instruments in Brazil for this population. The questionnaire was answered by the parents / guardians of young people living in the State of Rio de Janeiro. Seven judges, specialists in the areas of psychiatry and neuropsychology, participated in the semantic and content analysis of the scale sentences. Ninety subjects were studied, divided by group diagnosed with autism (ASD), intellectual disability (ID) and belonging to the control group (CG). Statistical analysis using the Mann-Whitney test and the ROC curve, showed results with high efficiency in specificity (86%) and sensitivity (96%) for CG X ASD and sensitivity of 90% and specificity of 86% for CG X ID. In the ASD X ID groups, there was good sensitivity (80%) and specificity (76%). For comparison between CG X ASD X ID, the Kruskall-Wallis test was applied with multiple Tukey comparisons, providing significant discrimination between the means of the CG (7.1) compared to those of the ASDs (26.3) and IDs (23.6), where Control < ASD = ID. The findings suggest that there were relevant differences between the groups, where CG < ASD, CG < ID and ASD > ID. The instrument proved to be consistent in the evaluation of the proposed construct, with the scope of identifying possible candidates for a future and more detailed clinical evaluation.
