Abstract

HENCKEL, Marciela  and  BERLINCK, Manoel Tosta. Considerations on inhibition ans symptoms: Distinctions and relationships in order to recognize the differences between two concepts. Estilos clin. [online]. 2003, vol.8, n.14, pp. 114-125. ISSN 1415-7128.

Freud said that some cases show inhibitions, but no symptoms. In clinical experience with children having serious psychopathological manifestations, we often ask ourselves if certain manifestations can be described as symptoms. This article discusses the distinctions and articulations between the two concepts. This distinction, besides seeking theoretical precision, may serve as a contribution to a reconsideration of the various psychopathological expressions seen in the clinic. With this in mind, the authors argue for maintaining a necessarily cautious position on when diagnosing children in constitution.

Keywords : Inhibition; Symptom; Education; Child.
