Abstract

This paper discusses the youthfulness and the young people like targets to the mass media (radical sports, models of beauty, rebellions, crimes, atrocities), for the specialists (psychologists, educators and psychiatrists), for the security systems (the law-breaker adolescent) and for the families (maladjusted members). We intend to understand the young people inside a discursive construction that weakens theirs possibilities of social and political protagonism and, at the same time, confirms the prejudices about their excessive, threatening and strange behavior on the one hand and, on the other hand, encourage their passivity, indifference and theirs consumerist ambitions.
