Abstract

CARVALHO, Ângela Sousa de; LIMA, Maria Celina Peixoto  and  MARTINS, Karla Patrícia Holanda. Alimentary issues and the infantile malnutrition: psychoanalytical contributions. Estilos clin. [online]. 2013, vol.18, n.2, pp. 372-386. ISSN 1415-7128.

This article is drawn on the hearing of mothers of children with malnutrition, who complain of alimentary issues, and is based, as a theoretical reference, on the psychoanalysis of Freud and Lacan. Besides some peculiarities, the researched children present a clinical condition of malnutrition related to refusal of being fed. The symptom, thus, occurs as a refusal to any food that is not breast milk, which points out to their difficulty to renounce to the object breast and to replace it by other objects/foods. It is possible, thus, to conclude that the diagnosis of infantile malnutrition must take into consideration psychic factors related to the context of the mother-child relation.

Keywords : mother-child relation; psychoanalysis; infantile malnutrition; alimentary issues.
